Learning Tips

Learning tips

  • When watching videos on YouTube on tutorials or technical topics, I like to set the default speed to 1.5x and then right-click press & hold on the video to change it to 2x speed temporarily.
  • Install shottr.css on your Mac, and use ctrl + opt + cmd + o to copy the text on your screen to the clipboard using OCR. Sometimes, YouTube videos don't upload the code, so this can help from time to time.
  • Use space repetition and active recall for learning. a
  • A good framework for learning is to understand why something was invented to truly understand what it does. You can understand things properly only when you know why they exist - knowing what they do is not enough.
    • Why, what, example.

Writing

  • Most people learn things and forget the why behind them. Try to write "why?" and add memorization tips as well.
